Well it looks like we have an anser. Matt Smith, the actor portraying the current incarnation of the titular character, will continue in the role through at least 2014. This will make him the longest tenured Doctor since the series returned to the air in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The actor contributes his return to the series on writer Stephen Moffat. He called the writing presented to him brilliant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis first episode sounds great.\u00a0It hasn\u2019t been written yet but the idea is as brilliant and as mental as you\u2019d expect from Steven. So there\u2019s a lot to look forward to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Steven was going to pitch the next season to me not long ago, he said, \u2018Are you ready to cry?\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doctor Who returns to the air later this month with the premier of series 7.
