Lead actor Robert Downey, Jr. suffered a minor ankle injury on the set of the film while performing a stunt.<\/p>\n<p>Marvel Studios released a quick statement earlier on the situation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Robert Downey Jr.\u00a0sustained an ankle injury on the set of\u00a0Iron Man 3\u00a0in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With Marvel&#8217;s choice in words of &#8220;short delay&#8221;, hopefully that menas the injury is not severe and production will not delayed too long. There is no official word on the severity of Downey&#8217;s injuries, and no indication has been given that production will be halted long enough to effect the current May 3rd release date of the film. Production on the film began this past June. Best wishes to Mr. Downey as he recovers.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Shane Black,<em>\u00a0Iron Man 3<\/em>\u00a0stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Ashley Hamilton, Guy Pearce and James Badge Dale.
