{"id":1260,"date":"2010-10-10T17:38:58","date_gmt":"2010-10-10T17:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/?p=1260"},"modified":"2010-10-10T17:38:58","modified_gmt":"2010-10-10T17:38:58","slug":"nycc-green-lantern-animated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/nycc-green-lantern-animated\/","title":{"rendered":"NYCC: Green Lantern Animated"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1261\" title=\"green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442\" src=\"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442.jpg 786w, http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442-300x168.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442-290x163.jpg 290w, http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/green-lantern-the-animated-series_786x442-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In brightest day, in blackest night, no Green Lantern news shall escape our sight!\u00a0 New York Comic-Con debuted all the details for Cartoon Network&#8217;s upcoming animated  adaptaion of Green Lantern, set to debut in late 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The series, helmed by DC Animated Universe mainstay Bruce Timm, Giancarlo Volpe (<em>Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em>)  and Jim Krieg takes the form of CG animation, breaking from Timm&#8217;s  usual work with 2-D.\u00a0 It follows Hal Jordan and Kilowog in a sort of  &#8220;Frontier Lanterns&#8221; story.\u00a0 The two take to policing the outer rim of  the Green Lantern Corps, as very little of the show will actually take  place on Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Details were scarce, but the trio still treated  us to images of their character models, as well as a short clip used as  a\u00a0 test for the project, though no actual footage.\u00a0 Understandable,  considering of the 26 episodes scheduled for the first season, 13 have  been outlined, 9 written, and only 3 or 4 storyboarded. The clip  showcased a brief snippet of Hal and Kilowog fighting off robots side by  side, before finding even more beyond the corridor, to which the  burlier lantern retorts &#8220;I&#8217;m getting too old for this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We were  also treated to some location paintings, and character images for  Atrocitus, Zilius Zox, Aya, Carol Ferris and Guardians Sayd, Appa and  Ganthet.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s everything we could sqeeze out of them about the series from the panel, and our own interview:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Red Lanterns will play a huge part, as well as their skirmishes over jurisdiction with the Corps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kilowog will essentially play Murtaugh to Hal Jordan&#8217;s Riggs, of <em>Lethal Weapon<\/em> fame.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeping the focus on adventures in space, you probably won&#8217;t see any other major DC superheroes anytime soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Similarly, in order to respect the movie&#8217;s version, the animated  series will stay away from Sinestro, but may allude to his existence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Considering how many times we&#8217;ve seen it in the past few years, don&#8217;t expect an origin story.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The animation won&#8217;t shoot for photorealism, being more stylized CG akin to <em>The Incredibles<\/em>, or even toys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Certain questions couldn&#8217;t be directly answered for spoilers sake,  but it&#8217;s safe to say the three had good reason for vaguely answering  questions about the appearance of Ch&#8217;p, Parallax, Mogo, ring impurities,  and whether anyone&#8217;s been assigned to guard Earth in Hal&#8217;s place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>They couldn&#8217;t say anything about the voice cast just yet, but Bruce indicated there would be several alum from his <em>Justice League Unlimited<\/em> days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The series will debut its preview in late 2011 before premiering in the Spring of 2012!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In brightest day, in blackest night, no Green Lantern news shall escape our sight!\u00a0 New York Comic-Con debuted<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1260","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-geeky-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1260","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1260"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1260\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1265,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1260\/revisions\/1265"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1260"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1260"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.geekworldordersite.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1260"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
