Paramount Pictures announced that they will co-finance the Tommy Wirkola <\/strong>(Dead Snow<\/em>) directed film\u00a0Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters<\/strong> <\/em>with MGM Studios. They’ve also revealed that the movie will be shot in 3D, and that they will release the $60 million dollar production on March 2nd 2012.<\/p>\n

The movie will star\u00a0Jeremy Renner<\/strong>,\u00a0Gemma Arterton <\/strong>and\u00a0Famke Janssen<\/strong>. This\u00a0is a reimagining of the dark classic story, and it\u00a0explores what happened to Hansel and Gretel 15 years after the gingerbread house incident. They have become bounty hunters that specialize in tracking down and killing witches! I can’t wait to see this flick!<\/p>\n

Will Ferrell<\/strong> and\u00a0Adam McKay <\/strong>are producing the film and they\u00a0thought the idea was so cool that they helped push it into production. McKay said in a previous interview:<\/p>\n

The idea is, they’ve grown up and they hunt witches. It’s a hybrid sort of “old-timey” feeling, yet there’s pump-action shotguns. Modern technology but in an old style.
