Who all is an R.L. Stine<\/strong> fan? I know I am because of growing up reading Goosebumps. It looks like Stine has something new headed our way in theatrical form. R.L. Stine\u2019s book, \u201cIt\u2019s the First Day of School<\/em>\u201d getting the movie treatment. The family friendly adventure comedy will follow 12-year-old Artie who is forced to relive his second day at a new school\u2026which also happens to be the worst.<\/p>\n

R.L. Stine’s Book ‘It’s the First Day of School … Forever’ Optioned for Big Screen<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gotham Group will develop the title for adaptation into a family adventure movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

R.L. Stine’s <\/strong>new book is getting the feature film treatment.<\/p>\n

Gotham Group has optioned the rights to\u00a0It’s the First Day of School … Forever by Stine<\/em>, one of the big names in children’s literature, and will develop the title for adaptation into a family adventure movie.<\/p>\n

Gotham Group CEO and founder\u00a0Ellen Goldsmith-Vein <\/strong>will produce with Gotham’s\u00a0Eric Robinson, <\/strong>longtime Stine collaborator\u00a0Yvonne Bernard<\/strong> of Lookout Entertainment and Gemini Girls Productions’\u00a0Beth Elise Hawk.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stine is the multimillion-selling author of\u00a0Goosebumps, Fear Street <\/em>and The Haunting Hour <\/em>and has been called theStephen King <\/strong>of children’s books.<\/p>\n

His latest is titled It’s The First Day of School … Forever <\/em>and tells the story of 12-year-old Artie, whose second day at his new school is exactly like his first, which just happened to be the worst day of his life. The boy finds himself reliving the same horrible day and must find a way to change his nightmare.<\/p>\n

The book is due to hit shelves in July by\u00a0Feiwel and Friends<\/em>, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group.<\/p>\n

Gotham’s Goldsmith-Vein calls\u00a0First of Day of School<\/em> “a thoroughly reimagined\u00a0Diary of a Wimpy Kid<\/em> meets\u00a0Groundhog Day<\/em>,” also saying it combines the elements that have made Stine a household name among the kid-lit set, namely horror and humor.<\/p>\n

Gotham aims to attach a writer before taking it to a studio.<\/p>\n

Parachute Publishing’s\u00a0Jane Stine <\/strong>and Joan Waricha <\/strong>will executive produce. Parachute is the rights-holder.<\/p>\n

Stine’s\u00a0Goosebumps <\/em>and Haunting Hour<\/em> have been adapted into TV series, with\u00a0Hour<\/em> currently airing on Hub.<\/p>\n

Gotham is one of the producers behind\u00a0Abduction<\/em>, Lionsgate’s action thriller starring\u00a0Taylor Lautner. <\/strong>The company also has\u00a0The Maze Runner, <\/em>an adaptation of a\u00a0James Dashner <\/strong>YA fantasy, set up at Fox and\u00a0How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack<\/em> in development at Sony Pictures Animation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
