George Lucas<\/strong>‘ live-action Star Wars<\/em><\/strong> TV series has been in development for a hell of a long time. According to producer Rick McCallum <\/strong>Lucas is going to hold off on the series for another three or four years. There is a lot of digital animation that needs to be done in the series, and they are basically waiting for technology to catch up to them so they can affordably do it right.<\/p>\n

McCallum did an interview with\u00a0Czech Position. When which he talked about the series and also offers up a little description of what we have to look forward to in the years to come.<\/p>\n

The TV series is on hold, but that has nothing to do with the Czech Republic; it has to do with [the episodes being] so ambitious.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here’s an explanation of the ambition they have for the series:<\/p>\n

We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don\u2019t have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this\u2026 So we are going to wait three or four years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

McCallum goes on to give a little pitch for the series which he describes as being like The Godfather<\/em>, and it sounds a lot like the HBO TV series The Wire<\/em>, only it takes place in the Star Wars Universe.<\/p>\n

Basically, it is like\u00a0The Godfather<\/em>; it\u2019s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it\u2019s a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
