The concept of the show was a good one. We would get a look into the day to day life of Kevin Smith\u2019s comic shop \u201cJay and Silent Bob\u2019s Secret Stash\u201d. This would be the show now known as \u201cComic Book Men\u201d. Did the series deliver the goods?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a really hard question to answer. I honestly feel like the show doesn\u2019t know what it wants to be. It feels like the show could be made into 2-3 different shows and it wouldn\u2019t be as cluttered as it came off.<\/p>\n

The show seems to take place in Kevin Smith\u2019s sound stage recording an episode of his podcast, SmodCast. It then alternates with clips of them doing some random things and people coming in to pawn off geeky memorabilia as they\u2019re talking about the stories of what happened. Kevin Smith seems to be on the show only to sell the show by his name. Smith does not appear in any of the segments featuring the antics of the shop employees. That could be its own show and be alright. The other part of the show is weird people coming in to pawn off geeky stuff and the shop staff being dicks about how much they\u2019ll the person for the stuff. This is just a rehash of EVERY pawn show currently on and adds nothing new to the genre.<\/p>\n

Comic Book Men just came off as a jumbled mess with no identity and doesn\u2019t do anything new to distinguish itself from the other similar genre shows it\u2019s trying to emulate. I personally don\u2019t see myself watching this very long or even see the show last that long. It wasn\u2019t terrible, but it wasn\u2019t very good either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
