Things have been very quiet since the announcement of the delay on the upcoming ‘Ninja Turtles’ movie. Originally scheduled for a December 2013 release date, the film is now slated for release on May 14, 2014.<\/p>\n

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay, the film had drawn ire from the fans for proposed changes to the origin story of the turtles, leaving many to suspect rewrites were a big factor in the delay. Another concern was possible budget cuts to the film.<\/p>\n

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Kevin Eastman, who has been involved in the project since day one, gave his thoughts on why the film was delay.<\/p>\n

\u201cEssentially they pushed it back for two reasons: One is the director, Jonathan Liebesman, wanted to make sure he could do the effects to the level he wants them at, and the fight scenes to the way they should be. Also, their release date is almost exactly on the 30th anniversary. May 5, 1984 is when the first Turtles comic came out. May 16, 2014, is almost exactly 30 years after. So basically it\u2019s an anniversary movie now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI talked to [producer] Scott Mednick yesterday, and he\u2019s seen the most recent 50 [script] pages and said it\u2019s as good as the last version \u2014 they\u2019ve really knocked it out of the park,\u201d Eastman said. \u201cI\u2019ve seen a chunk of it, and it\u2019s going to be a great movie, despite what everybody thinks.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
