Activision adressed the future of Guitar Hero in a recent interview with GamingIndustry.biz. Turns out the series isn’t as dead as we thought. Activision’s Dan Winters said:
“Actually, just to clarify, we’re just putting Guitar Hero on hiatus, we’re not ending it. We’re releasing products out of the vault — we’ll continue to sustain the channel, the brand won’t go away. We’re just not making a new one for next year, that’s all.”
Activision wants to focus their money and time into games they won’t have to take many risks on, like Call of Duty. Last week Tony Hawk said his franchise wasn’t canceled either and we could see another skateboarding game as soon as 2012.
