Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5 Review

This past Free Comic Book Day brought us a number of titles to try to entice us into our local comic book shops. Some of the titles were sample books. Others were a catching up point. Some of them were preview titles to future series. This was the case Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5.

The title serves as a preview to the upcoming series from IDW. It is scheduled to hit shelves sometime in July. The story picks up twenty-one years after the conclusion of the original Marvel Transformers run from the 1980s. It serves as both a catch up and preview to bridge the gap between the two series.

IDW has recently done this with the GI Joe series. I have read several issues of that and it has been a solid book so far. Regeneration One does not disappoint. The story is good and sets up a good first arc for the new series. The art in the book is a retro style that harkens back to the original Marvel run and is awesome.

This book really intrigued me and I am very much looking forward to the ongoing series in July. If your local comic book shop has any copies of this title left, do try to get a hold of it. It is a fantastic single issue and well worth obtaining if possible. I was very much a fan of the Marvel Transformers run and I will be collecting this series once it debuts.
