MegaRan – RNDM

RNDM

MegaRan is back with an all new album. The hip hop superstar brings us RNDM, a wonderful collection of his latest videogame and nerdy inspired songs.

I have to say I really love this album. That’s a lot to say from someone who historically has not been a fan of the genre. Normally hip hop just doesn’t resonate with me. But take some nerdy topics, some slick beats and the incomparable MegaRan himself and you have a winning combo that is one of the best albums I have heard this year.

“I’m on a mission to make this song your favorite song…” The line comes from the track “Your Favorite Song” and with the album, MegaRan has done much more. The songs range in their tone and many of them have a strong emotional feel from them. MegaRan has been very successful with his style and how he does things. One of my favorite tracks on the album is a track called “Believe”, in which he talks about his faith. The song is beautiful and inspiring. many of the songs are just pure fun. “Infinite Lives” featuring D&D Sluggers and “Rushmore” with Dr. Awkward have both seen a lot of playtime since I got the album.

All of the tracks strike a chord with me. “Introvert Bars”, the shortest track on the album, packs a punch if you’ve ever felt the pain of not wanting to go out in social situations.

The album represents a change in focus as MegaRan fully embraces the persona that brought him his greatest success. Originally releasing music as Random and slowly becoming the sensation that is MegaRan can really be felt in the song “The Meeting”, where he raps as both personas seeming to have a conversation and showing us where he’s been and what’s to come. “Infinite Lives” and “Your Favorite Song” give some insight into what MegaRan hopes to leave behind as an artist.

All of this creates a positive experience and creates a message of hope. I fully recommend picking up this album. It can be picked up on iTunes or Bancdamp.
