Another year has come and gone and it’s time to look back on the year and see what we might get into in 2025. I can’t say this was the most productive year for the site. There were good moments and quiet stretches. It was a year that honestly left me wanting more and I feel like I’m ready to take the leap head on into 2025.
Now, the good times were good. There were areas of growth and for that I am excited. One of the strong areas was in the growth of the YouTube channel. It took some effort and the beginning of the year did not look like a lot was going to be accomplished. In the early part of the year, it seemed like I had been nerfed by the algorithms. I tried some different content and a slightly different presentation. I quickly realized I needed to course correct very quickly. It took much of the rest of the year, but I have found a schedule that works and views are getting back to where they were at the end of last year. I worked on adding more shorts to my channel (even if it was just reuploading stuff I used on TikTok). This was a huge success as I started getting a lot more subscribers. I almost doubled the number from the end of last year and for surpassed the goal I had set in that regard. I definitely want to keep the momentum going and and finally hit the counts I need to monetize. I plan to keep with my current upload schedule as it works for me and the content I do. Tuesdays will feature Toy Reviews and Friday will be the main vlogs featuring Disney and Convention content.
Conventions were sort of hit or miss for me this year. Definitely a lot of miss as I only went to a handful of conventions this year. The ones I went to were a blast and I got to experience a lot of great things. New venues for shows such as Anime Festival Orlando and Holiday Matsuri, old favorites such as MegaCon and DragonCon and others in between. Stops at Central Florida ComicCon and the Spring Spooky Empire show rounded out my conventions for the year. Six conventions total was a down year for me for sure. There were some personal issues affecting my ability get to shows this year. I definitely want to get to more shows and create more content. I want to get more convention vlogs out, do more photography (especially more specialized and individual shoots). With the issues of the past year mostly resolved, I’ll be able to do more this year for sure.
I also want to explore other creative endeavors as well. In addition to new content for YouTube, I want to write more. I intend to do more of these type of blogs and do other writing as well. Getting back to written content has been of a renewed interest to me. I want to craft scripted videos whether that be short skits or short films. I want to stretch creatively. Aside from that, my biggest 2025 goal is a writing goal. Over the course of 2024, I read several books written by people I consider to be friends. It got me inspired. I have had an interest in writing from a young age. I had teachers in elementary school convinced I was going to grow up to be an author. It looks like I may finally put that confidence to use and get one step closer to that dream I had in first grade. During the course of 2025, I plan on writing my first novel. I am only in the planning and outlining stage right now. It will be a massive undertaking but I feel this will allow me to expand creatively and personally. I have wanted to do this for a long time and now felt like the right time to do it. Perhaps the fact that I’m turning 40 in the coming year had a little to do with it as well. Might as well knock one of my life goals off the bucket list this year.
This year has been on off year for me. I kept closer to home this year and it may have done me some good. I overall feel reenergized and have an optimism going into a new year that I haven’t had in a few years. I feel that as we march towards the site’s 15th anniversary in July, good things ar going to happen. I dare even say I’m going to manifest it. I have lofty goals but I feel they are achievable. I learned a lot about myself this year through some trying times. I have a sense of optimism and a renewed vigor that I truly believe will shape the futre of the site and my life for years to come.
