Gaming website IGN has posted some interesting news, including the announcement of a sequel to this years War for Cybertron and a game based on the upcoming Transformers:Dark of the Moon as well as a brief mention of a Transformers based MMO being developed.
Hasbro confirmed during its investor conference earlier this week a sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron is currently in development and is set for release sometime in 2012.
Mark Blecher, SVP and General Manager of Digital Media & Gaming, said he was pleased with the response of the first title released earlier this year.
“This is the most highly-rated, critical success of any game that’s had the Hasbro brand yet and we’re looking forward to a sequel in 2012,” Blecher stated.
It’s expected San Diego-based High Moon Studios, the developer of the first game, is behind the sequel, though that information has not been confirmed.
Blecher also said the Transformers: Dark of the Moon video game will be released in 2011 to coincide with the launch of the movie. Additionally, the Transformers MMO, in development by NetDragon, is planned for launch in the West but no specific territories were mentioned.
