World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm Sells 3.3 Million Units In 24 Hours, Breaks Record

World of WarcraftCataclysm has become the fastest selling PC-game of all time. It sold 3.3 million copies in its first 24 hours of release. According to Blizzard it broke the current PC-game record held by the previous WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King, which sold 2.8 million copies in its original launch in 2008.

More than 10,000 stores across the globe opened their doors at midnight for the launch last week. Blizzard-sponsored launch events were held all over the world, including Mexico, Chile, Russia and Australia. There were 12 million Wow-players prior to the launch of the third expansion, making sure World of Warcraft remains the most popular MMORPG out there.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is available now for the PC and Mac.
