iPhone to Verizon Officially Announced

iPhone 4 Coming To Verizon February 10

After years of rumors, speculation, and moaning, Verizon Wireless announced today that it will begin offering the iPhone 4 February 10. The long awaited phone will be available for pre-order to current Verizon customers on Feb. 3.

Verizon’s iPhone has been modified to be compatible with Verizon’s CDMA network, but will maintain the same form factor of AT&T’s. As many critics have noted, the CDMA network has a number of limitations that Verizon’s new 4G network, and AT&T’s current 3G network, doesn’t have, most notably the inability to support simultaneous phone use and Internet browsing. Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 5 this summer, so now that Verizon has the device, it’s likely that version will be the first to support Verizon 4G.

Similar to AT&T, the 16GB version will cost $199, while the 32GB version will cost $299. Verizon didn’t reveal pricing info for data plans at the event, but Verizon now offers unlimited data for $30 a month for its other smartphones, so expect something comparable.
