EA and FUNimation Entertainment, the leading distributor of Japanese animation, have announced today they’re working with T.O. Entertainment to produce a Mass Effect anime feature film. The film will be based in the Mass Effect universe, and, “will tell the tale of an epic science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets,” according to EA.
Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series at BioWare will also be the executive producer on the film, so we trust that it’s in very capable hands. “Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media,” Hudson said. “Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us.”
Production on the film has already begun and it’s currently scheduled for a 2012 release.
