William Shatner Confirms He Will Not Be In Star Trek 2

Many were hoping that William Shatner would have a role in the the upcoming new Star Trek sequel from J.J. Abrams. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Shatner recently made an appearance at the Calgary Expo in Canada this weekend, and a fan asked a question on whether or not we would see him back as Captain Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek… here was his answer:

I’ve become an acquaintance of J.J. [Abrams] of late … But, I’m afraid no, no, I will not be in Star Trek 2.

Damn, that sucks. Shatner has expressed his interest and hope in showing up in the new Star Trek film, but I guess the new story that has been hatched for the sequel doesn’t include it. Sure it’s disappointing, but if adding Shatner in the film distracts from the story or doesn’t work with what they’ve come up with then I guess it’s the best thing for the film. Unless Shatner doesn’t really know what he’s talking about, or he wants to keep his cameo a surprise.

What are your thoughts on Shatner not being included in Star Trek 2?
