Eureka Given 1 Extra Episode for Closure

After some back and forth on the show’s future, SyFy finally decided to cancel original series Eureka. It has been learned that the network has ordered one more episode beyond the thirteen that will comprise season five of the series. The season had already been written and in production when the cancellation announcement was made. This leads us to believe with the writing they were anticipating being brought back for a sixth season. With the extra episode ordered, proper closure can be brought to the series and the characters that viewers have come to love over the last five years.

While I have not watched the series myself, I would like to applaud SyFy for this decision to help appease their fans. Any show that can survive this long in the current era of television deserves a proper send off and now Eureka will get just that. I know many fans wanted more. I’ve read reports of many things including management changes at SyFy, and the show being very expensive to produce being factored into the Network’s decision to cancel. At the end of the day, they felt cancelling was the best option. We will at least get a full fifth season and a proper send off now. Unlike some networks (I’m looking directly at you Fox) that would not even think to make a move like this to at least try to make the fans somewhat happy. Kudos to the move SyFy.
