Breaking Dawn Birth Scene Causes Seizures

The Twilight phenomenon has swept across the world and created various reactions from different groups. Young women scream with excitement as their male counterparts groan with disgust as Edward and Jacob appear on the screen. The Twilight craze has caused a new reaction. Reports have come in of moviegoers experiencing seizures during a scene in which Bella gives birth to her vampire daughter.

The scene in question is said to be very graphic. It contains a lot of blood and the scene alternates between the blood and very bright scenes. This rapid change in scenery caused Brandon Gephart of Roseville, CA to begin convulsing violently in his seat. Gephart also says he blacked out during the convulsions and then remembers next waking up on the floor of the theatre. His girlfriend, Kelly Bauman describes him as “convulsing, snorting, trying to breathe.” Gephart was then taken to a local hospital for observation.

The second report came in from Salt Lake City, Utah, as a woman described her husband of having the same symptoms. The husband, who did not want to be identified, said he also blacked out during the movie. “I didn’t really remember what happened after that. I think I blacked out. According to her, I was shaking and mumbling different noises,” he said.

These types of incidents are not uncommon and have happened in higher numbers. In Japan in 1997, an episode of Pokemon was banned after airing when 685 viewers reported to various hospitals with symptoms of seizures observed while watching the episode in question.
