GI Joe: Retaliation pushed back to March 2013

With less than a month to go until its release, GI Joe: Retaliation has been pushed back from its June 29th release to March 2013. Why is this? 3D.

Originally, Paramount had decided to not release the film in 3D. They have now decided to release the film in 3D and will be taking the extra nine months to do a proper post 3D conversion on the film.

A studio executive had this to say about the decision to move to 3D.

“We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally. Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”

GI Joe: Retaliation is directed by Jon Chu. It stars Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Bruce Willis, Elodie Yung, RZA, DJ Cotrona, Ray Stevenson, Joseph Mazzello, Walton Goggins and DeRay Davis. The movie now arrives in theaters on March 29, 2013.
