Captain America 2 to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo

We knew that Joe Johnston, who directed the first Captain America movie, was out of the picture for the inevitable sequel. We now have word that directors and brothers Joe and Anthony Russo are in final negotiations to helm the upcoming Captain America 2.

The directing choice is perhaps a strange one. The two are more known for comedy movies such as You, Me, and Dupree and Welcome to Collinwood. The two have also directed episodes of NBC’s series Community. Thought it may appear odd, they may have a great idea of where to take the movie is Marvel is going out on a limb to use the brothers on this film.

Captain America 2 is scheduled for release on April 14th, 2014. The script is currently being written by Chris Markus and Stephen McFeely. Not much is known of the story at the moment, but Marvel president Kevin Feige has stated that the movie will be a combination of modern day and World War 2 era settings. The movie will feature Chris Evans returning to the role of Steve Rogers and Captain America.
