With the absolute success of Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’, it was obvious the movie was going to get a sequel. That we already knew. Now we also have an official release date for the upcoming movie. We also know Joss Whedon will return to direct the film. The film will be released May 1, 2015.
“The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the biggest Super Hero blockbuster and third highest grossing film of all time, Marvel’s The Avengers. Joss Whedon returns to write and direct the UNTITLED MARVEL’S AVENGERS SEQUEL set for release May 1, 2015.”
The film will be released after several upcoming sequels in the franchises of the movie’s star heroes. Marvel will also be releasing films based on Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. This will open up those characters to appearing in the film as well. The sequel to The Avengers will have plenty of scope to work with in the Marvel universe.
The known release dates for the in between films is as follows:
Iron Man 3 – May 3, 2013
Thor: The Dark World – November 8, 2013
Captain America: The Winter Soldier – April 4, 2014;
Guardians of the Galaxy – August 1, 2014
Ant-Man – TBD
