Marvel to launch all female X-Men title

Marvel has never been one to pull punches. The flagship Marvel title has taken chances in telling stories about racism, prejudice, and other social issues. Now, they look to prove that women can kick some major butt. As part of the Marvel NOW! soft relaunch, Brian Wood will be bringing us the all female title, X-Men.

Wood gave his thoughts in an interview with USA Today, “I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men. Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise. If you look at the entire world as a whole, it’s the females that really dominate and are the most interesting and cool to look at. When you have a great artist drawing them, they look so amazing and always have.”

Olivier Coipel will lead in the art side of the book. The cover for the first issue reveals the initial roster for the series which consists of Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Grey, Psylocke and Jubilee, who will be the main protagonist of the series. It’s a very A-List roster od Marvel’s femme fatales of the X-Men Universe. Wood added, “I don’t want to make it the ‘Jubilee and friends book.’ They’re all A-list characters – I’ve got to make them all shine”

X-Men #1 will be released this upcoming April.
