Nintendo will have lesser presence at E3

Every year, the gaming industry gathers to show off their latest wares at E3. This year, Nintendo’s presence will be much more diminished than in recent years. The organization has no major announcements planned for the annual industry show.

While both Microsoft and Sony will be unveiling their new gaming consoles to the world, Nintendo has already done so. They released the WiiU last holiday season. The gaming giant has no new technology to announce at the show, and will instead use smaller announcements to show the world several key releases coming to the platform.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata released a statement saying:

“Unlike previous years, we will not have a large-scale presentation [at E3] directed to everyone in the world. Instead, we are planning several smaller events focusing on software for America. Among these hands-on events will be one for American distributors and another for western media.”

Nintendo will still be at the industry show. Rumored announcements include a new Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros, and a Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U.

Nintendo really has no need to have a major presence at E3. The Wii U is still in its initial release and any new hardware announced now would just seem rushed. Nintendo has its next gen hardware out. Now they just need to focus on bringing quality games to its new console.
