Jason David Frank back in green for Power Rangers Super Megaforce

It may be hard to believe, but the Power Rangers franchise is 20 years old. Who knew that the franchise started in 1993 by Saban Brands would have such staying power. It’s certainly a nostalgia staple of those who grew up at that time. The current incarnation, Megaforce, airs on Nickelodeon and continues the tradition of the multi-colored superheroes defending the world.

The 20th anniversary season will feature a huge team up episode with 10 former cast members returning to reprise their roles. Many invitations were sent out and many were rejected for various reasons including money, the time required, and other personal reasons.

The biggest return is veteran Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank. Known for his role of Tommy Oliver, the original green ranger, Frank is arguably the most well known and beloved actor in the franchise’s history. Tommy consistently tops lists of people’s favorite ranger. The character had a long life on Power Rangers, going from evil to good, to leading the Rangers, to later coming back in Dino Thunder as that team’s mentor. Frank is also well loved on the convention circuit and is very appreciative of his fans. He has even said he would have done the appearance on Megaforce for free just to give back to the fans that have supported him.

Also returning to reprise their former roles include Hector David Jr., Sean CW Johnson, Alison MacInnis, Brittany Pirtle, Danny Slavin, Jason Faunt, Reggie Rolle, Selwyn Ward, Melody Perkins, and Patricia Ja Lee

Power Rangers was a huge part of my childhood. Heroes, monsters, and giant robots was a winning combo in book (okay it still is today) and Power Rangers has delivered. I can’t wait to see this team up episode.

  1. I wonder why he’ll be back as the Green Ranger though; one would figure he’d come back as his most recent ranger form.
