Left 4 Dead Developers Sign With THQ

THQ Unveils New Logo, Nation Swoons

Turtle Rock, the developers of Valve’s amazing zombie shooter Left 4 Dead, have signed on to develop a game for publisher THQ. The as-yet-untitled game is planned for release in 2013.

“Our quest to sign the best artists and work with the best talent continues,” said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “Turtle Rock Studios is responsible for one of the most original, critically acclaimed co-operative games of this generation, and we are incredibly excited to be working with them on their next project, which looks set to make a similar impact in the multiplayer space.”

THQ’s stable includes Assassin’s Creed head Patrice Désilets, Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki, Psychonauts creator Tim Schafer and famous movie director Guillermo Del Toro. I’d say that’s an impressive lineup of talent, wouldn’t you?

Turtle Rock Studio was founded in 2002, and cut its gaming teeth with legendary shooter Counter-Strike. It was purchased by Valve in 2008, then something….happened, and the company reformed as an indie studio, apart from Valve. Now, they are working with THQ.
