CW Orders Green Arrow Pilot

CW is looking to do some more magic with DC Comics properties. The network has ordered a pilot based on DC’s billionaire turned crackshot arrow slinger, Green Arrow. They have had success with DC licenses before as well documented with their series Smallville, focusing on the early life of Superman and his journey to come to the point of being Superman.

The project is currently being written by “Green Lantern” screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and “Fringe” alum Andrew Kreisberg.

CW has had some use of the character before. Green Arrow was introduced in the series Smallville, and played by Justin Hartley for over 70 episodes. Hartley, however is not expected to be a part of the series. The character has been described at points as a combination of Batman and Robin Hood.

No details are available as to what direction the show will take. Green Arrow has been on the comic shelves since 1941, so there’s a long history to draw from.
