The reality show craze of the past few years has brought on a number of crazy circumstances. From documenting polygamy to the antics of a certain New Jersey beach to watching celebrities dance, we’ve seen it all. Now TLC brings us a new series documenting a subject that many within the geek community find a tough pill to swallow: dating.
“Geek Love”, which will debut as two half hour specials on December 18, will follow geek Ryan Glitch as he hosts his Sci-Fi Speed Dating events at major comic conventions. For those unfamiliar, speed dating is a group setting where individuals are paired off for a few minutes at a time to briefly get to know one another then switch to the next person in line for another couple of minutes. They can take notes and evaluate potential full dates.
As many of us know, dating can be hard in the geek world. It takes a lot of time and effort to find that one special individual who follows your belief on the Star Wars / Star Trek debate. Or perhaps it’s finding that someone to appreciate the time and effort you put into cosplaying.
If the series does well enough in the ratings, TLC will pick the series up for a full season order. Check out the preview below and let us know what you think.
